Giving an identity to the differently abled

The Challenge:

Webeasts witnessed Thums Up and Being Human coming together, in partnership with CNN-IBN & AIF to initiate a movement. They wanted to highlight people with disabilities in India, to provide them with a possibility to become independent and use their potential to the fullest.

Our goal was to put Veer at the front of a social revolution. To unleash the inner potential of PwDs and enable them to explore the best employment opportunities.

Webeasts’ Strategy & Approach:

We coined two options to name the campaign, WADA which denoted ‘We Are Differently Abled’ and VEER for “Strength and Power” in each and every citizen. We designed the entire campaign primarily to reach out to the audience via digital media and a Facebook app for Facebook users.

Outcome:

VEER managed to collect INR 50 lakh in donations via the Facebook App. This served as a landmark after just one month of its launch, to make 1,000 people with disabilities employable.

Most importantly, we aimed at reaching out to more than 1,000 PwDs with skill training and employment opportunities. Veer supports the issues related to includinG the one that the system often ignores. That is, the employment of PwDs and getting an access to the workplace.

Besides that, Veer addressed challenges such as education, employment, skill training and development. Therefore, Veer supported disabled-friendly technology. Irrespective of whether you are a person with a disability or not, economic independence is a crucial thing for everyone. Most importantly, the campaign converted people with a disability from being a burden to be as valuable as an asset.

VEER candidates from AIF partner – SNS Foundation – interacted with members of the Blind Cricket Team. The foundation congratulated the team for their recent World Cup victory. Furthermore, AIF partnered with Ability Foundation for the Annual Employment Job Fair for PwDs; Over 500 candidates from 23 states and 37 companies from different sectors participated.Above all, Veer trained 577 people, out of which 425 were placed in Vodafone, esktop.com, HCL, Taj Group of Hotels, Rockwell Industries and many other reputed companies.
